MORE INFORMATION ABOUT CLASSES

Anyone may choose to lead or follow. Regardless of gender identity or expression, you may choose to lead or follow. Many students improve their dance skills by learning both.

You don’t need a partner. In fact most people come without partners! If you come with a partner, please be prepared to change partners – we often teach a form of dance (“rueda”) that involves exchanging partners. Plus, changing partners improves your skills.

You don’t need to attend every class. We like to maintain a flexible drop-in policy. We understand people have busy schedules. If you’ve missed a few classes, we’ll help catch you up. If you buy a pass, take as long as you need to use it.

Flexibility is key. Our drop-in policy means there is a different mix of folks, by level, every class – and we like it that way! It does mean that we ask our students to be flexible: we may teach moves that you already know, or you may find yourself “reviewing” something you’ve never learned. Sometimes an instructor is absent and we need to combine levels. We will do our best to keep our classes in the sweet spot of “not too easy” and “not too hard” for the majority of each group.

Class levels. We will do our best to guide you to the class level appropriate for your skills, but sometimes we make mistakes. Please talk to us if you think you should be in a different level from what we’ve advised.

We want dance to be affordable. We offer student discounts, and never turn people away due to lack of funds. We also occasionally offer trade for goods and services. Please talk with us if you’re interested!

Code of Conduct. All students must be respectful of each other both physically and verbally. If someone in class has made you feel uncomfortable, whether through unwanted touching, unkind words, or predatory behavior, please contact one of the instructors.
